Many years of experience in grades K-3 has honed my teaching skills. I am seeking an elementary teaching position. I have been trained in MLPP, MEAP, LETRS, Orton Gillingham, Words Their Way, Thinking Maps, Brain Based, and Multiple intelligences, Inquiry based Learning, Differentiated Instruction, Balanced Literacy, Reading and Writing Workshop, Everyday Math, Intensive Phonics, RTI, and more. This summer I was involved in a cohort of teachers grades K-12 for the Summer Reading and Thinking Institute at Oakland Schools ISD for 21st century schools. Training involved Critical Literacy, Visible Thinking, Creative and problem solving strategies, technology, ELL support, Book Clubs, Speakers, Effective Instruction, Core Standards, Reading and Writing Workshop strategies, and assessments, final presentations, and more. I am a highly motivated, innovative, creative and collaborative teacher who has a passion for seeing children succeed. I have a Michigan Permanent certificate in Special Education (K-8th) and have an AMS diploma in Preschool (ages 3-6). Since 1972 I have taught at the Grosse Pointe Academy (internship with Pat Moore) DHMC (Kay Neff), Meadow Montessori (Cathy Caulder), at Sunshine Community School (in Detroit), Dearborn Montessori Academy (Dearborn Public Schools) and Creative Montessori Academy (charter school).
